For God commanded, saying, Honor thy father and mother: and, He that curses father or mother, let him die the death. But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou might be profited by me; And honor not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honors me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men...Matthew 15:1-9. How much respect do you have for your mom and dad…the way I understand this passage…is they took care of you when you were in need and diapers…you take of them in diapers when they are need. People in Jesus day…were giving money to the temple instead of taking care of their mom or dad. They were saying it is a tithe to God I have no money to help you mom or dad. Jesus disciples were questioned if they follow the teachings of men…Jesus responded with pointing out their teaching does not even take care of their mom and dad first. Honoring our mom and dad is one of the Ten Commandments…which for a Jew was the minimum requirements for eternal life. These religious people were not even keeping the commandment to honor their mom and dad and were look at how much money we gave God attitude. As if a man could give anything other than obedience of heart mind souls spirit and strength. Can you walk on water…Jesus and Peter did. But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea… And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spoke unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid… And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. …And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God...Matthew 14:24-33.   What if you were Peter…would you walk on the sea or never get out of the boat. How many of us have the faith of Peter…would you have gotten out of the boat and believed you too could walk on the water…and when did he begin to sink…when he looked around and thought this is impossible…or as Jesus said why did you doubt? How can doing the impossible be stopped…it was stopped by Peter when he doubted he could walk on the water. The only way I have ever walked on water was when it was frozen. Jesus can calm the seas in your life…Jesus can walk on water…and pull you out. The parable of the tares and wheat…useless fruit and good fruit in the field of mankind. Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed (seeds of truth) in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares (seeds of false) among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit (good deeds through good teaching), then appeared the tares (useless deeds through false teaching) also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed (the truth) in thy field? from whence then hath it tares (falsehoods)? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this… …The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares (false teaching in the church…the field is mankind), ye root up also the wheat (good deeds) with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares (useless deeds through opinions and false ideas), and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat (good deeds) into my barn (the kingdom before Jesus finally returns in Judgment)...Matthew 13:24-30.   How many ideas are out there even in the church that are false…like you have to tithe or give 10%...there is no commandment which says give 10% in the New Testament of Christ. Many believe the false teaching that they have to…How many teach baptism is necessary for salvation…how many congregations do not take the Lord’s supper every Sunday…Use improper worship methods…etc. How many claim to be apostles and to do their will…or elders…or bishops…etc.   We must have a thus it is written for everything we do not the preacher says so. We got to have bible…the word of God as our source of truth not a person or a false book. The opinions of man add to God’s word…for it is written to give as we have been prospered (1 Cor 16:2) not to give 10%...but many do give 10%. It is not a sin to give this amount but God does not require it. Opinions add to the word of God or they take away from the word of God…we must have thus it is written for the bible we teach. You ever ask yourself if you die today would you be in heaven… If you then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God. Who is Jesus brother or sister or mother… While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. You cannot be good in God’s eyes without being cleansed by Jesus work of the cross… Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned...Matthew 12:33-37.   Once you hear about Jesus Christ and the freedom from evil He has provided…His life…death…and resurrection…then you are faced with a choice. You can join Jesus Christ by being baptized and becoming a Christian or you can choose to go your way. Jesus when accused of doing these miracles by the power of another told the people to make the tree either good…all for God or evil. He told them to make themselves good or fit for the kingdom of God or make themselves bad fir for themselves.   How can a man make himself good…do you want to be good not bad…yes or no? In order to be good we must be forgiven by God who is the source of Good and Holy. Have you ever lied…stole…murdered…coveted another’s…neglected your dad or mom…you ever said God’s name wrong…ever worshipped an idol…committed adultery… then you need forgiveness from God…if you want to be good then do not do these things.   Jesus will reveal the truth to you and all you must do is what is good, right, and true. Jesus will never ask you to do a wrong or evil thing. Jesus will never ask you to lie or steal or anything evil. He will always ask you to do what is right nor wrong. His teachings are found in the New Testament of Christ…if you will agree to read the New Testament then Jesus will reveal the truth you need to know to you and you will find rest for your souls. So you can learn what is good right and true.   Jesus said… Come unto Me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of Me (read the New Testament of Christ); for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls. We do not change the message the message changes us. At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in Your sight. All things are delivered unto Me of my Father: and no man knows the Son, but the Father; neither knows any man the Father, save the Son, and He to whomsoever the Son will reveal Him… …Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek (obedient) and lowly (humble) in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light...Matthew 11:25-30.   Jesus speaking of His teachings said they were revealed unto babes not knowing religious teachings well…people who did not follow the religious leaders blindly believing everything they taught. For many of the Pharisees and Scribes…teachers of the law said Jesus was not the Christ and tried to trip Him up in His words and actions. Jesus speaking of His disciples said they were babes. The disciples seen the miracles and refused to listen to the doctrines of the leaders and followed Jesus because He is the Christ and was doing powerful miracles. They knew Jesus was special and from God…even eventually God’s own Son. Jesus told them and anyone else to take His teaching of the Truth upon them…take my yoke…a yoke takes two oxen and makes them work as if they are one force. Jesus is saying if you take His teaching of Truth…His yoke…upon you then you and Him will be practicing the Truth together as one. Jesus said His teaching of the Truth is a light and easy burden to bear...to live out.   These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He hears us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him...1 John 5:13-15.   Is it hard to tell the Truth…yes or no? Is it hard to love your neighbor as yourself in doing good…yes or no? If we take His teaching of the Truth upon us then we find rest for our souls…we can have the prayers we say answered as long as you practice the truth. A wonder working Savior which saves… And He (Jesus) entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into His own city. And, behold, they brought to Him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; your sins be forgiven you. And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemes. And Jesus knowing their thoughts said… Wherefore think you evil in your hearts? For whether is easier, to say, Your sins be forgiven you; or to say, Arise, and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith He to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up your bed, and go unto your house. And he arose, and departed to his house. But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled (were astonished), and glorified God, which had given such power unto men...Matthew 9:1-8.   You ever been sick and friends have to put in a good word for you…yes or no? This man’s friends brought him to Jesus…on a bed…are you the friend which puts in a good word for your friends to Jesus like these (they in the text) did…yes or no? Jesus seeing the man’s deepest needs forgave his sins but some in the crown considered it a take away from God because forgiveness of sins cannot be seen and only given by God…and said in their hearts He blasphemes (takes the place of God). Jesus willing to show the man was forgiven to them then tells the man to take up his bed and walk. This man truly met a Savior which saves.   A savior which forgave his sins…making him spiritually well…then healed him of the palsy sickness by saying take up your bed and walk. This man was brought to Jesus because he was unable to go to Jesus because of his sickness. We can all bring someone’s name before Jesus. Jesus seeing the faith of his “friends” then made him whole physically and spiritually. A savior which saves the sick and forgives sins. This man did not have to have his faith…for those that brought him had the faith. You ever prayed a miracle down for a friend…ever tried…ever mentioned a friend or loved one to Jesus…yes or no?   Jesus is a savior which saves…this man found the mercy and grace of God because his friends had faith Jesus would help him. He found what he did not deserve…forgiveness of sins. Then he found a favor from God…he was made whole of his sickness which had bed ridden him. To be almost saved is to be totally lost.   And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. And, behold, there arose a great tempest (storm) in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And he saith unto them,… …Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. But the men marveled (astonished), saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him...Matthew 8:23-27!   You ever faced drear circumstances…ever been in a life-or-death situation…and be frozen…fearful…like the disciples were…yes or no?   These grown men were fearful and two of them were used to sea being fishermen. Can you imagine the waves being taller than the boat…this is what they were facing…Jesus being asleep. They woke Him up thinking they may have to swim or the boat would sink or break…perhaps. Jesus after seeing just tells the storm to behave. Do you have faith like Jesus…I sometimes think I would love to be able to do so…Jesus did so to teach His disciples God will protect you in the storm.   Are you in a storm…in a storm you think God has no control over…God can change your circumstances…prayer moves the hand that moves the universe. You are more precious than any other creature because you are one of His sheep. God will make a way for you through the storm or He can calm the sea and the winds of the storm.   Are you on sinking sand or is your faith built upon the rock solidness of Jesus Christ? He is the Good Shepherd and if you have been baptized then you are one of His sheep…one of His dear Children. If you have not been baptized but believe Jesus died and rose from the grave…then you are still on the sand of the shore facing a storm. There is another time Jesus upbraided (harsh) the disciples for the lack of faith…After Jesus was risen from the dead…Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. What good do we ask in prayer… Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened...Matthew 7:7-8.   When you pray for others good by loving your neighbor as yourself you will then have all you need to do so…When we pray are we seeking what God desires or what we think He desires… When you pray do you pray selfishly or for your neighbor as if he was Jesus and in need…?   When we seek God and His will, we are supplied with our own needs… Wherefore, if God so cloths the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall He not much more cloth you, O you of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof...Matthew 6:30-34.   If you change your now then you change your future. You cannot enter into the Kingdom of God unless you purpose in heart to do so. You must decide to put Jesus as the Top Priority as the Supreme will in your life. Have you read the New Testament to learn of His teachings. He is the Truth you and I need to live our life by and the simplest and popular saying is still true with Jesus…Love your neighbor as yourself and remember love works no ill will towards its neighbor.   You cannot do your family’s will and please God, we must put Jesus first and foremost in our decisions… If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple...Luke 14:26-27.   You cannot love any soul more than Jesus. If you love your family more than Jesus then you are in the wrong. How do you love Jesus more than your family when all you see on earth physically is your family…? By placing Jesus teaching as your Way of life…as the Truth you practice…so your Life looks like Jesus. Can God say your life looks like a what would Jesus do? P.U.S.H…Pray…Until…Something…Happens…when praying just report for duty…do not give God instructions.   When praying…you don’t need to repeat yourself…God already knows what you need… It is written… But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions (empty repeating), as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knows what things ye have need of, before ye ask him...Matthew 6:7-8   We do not need to remind God of anything… And this is the confidence that we have in Him (Jesus), that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him...1 John 5:14-15.   We can always approach His throne and are told too… For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly (with confidence) unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need...Hebrews 4:15-16… Pray without ceasing...1 Thessalonians 5:17. Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus...Philippians 4:6-7.   If you pray in the morning when you wake up…at noon…at the evening…then have you stopped praying or have you prayed all day long…? We can be confident God hears our desires and our petitions when we pray. In fact, He is so Great He already knows our needs.
