How Jesus was required to Remember the Sabbath Day...

In the Ten Commandments...which was the minimum requirements Jesus (from the tribe of Judah not a priest from the tribe of Levi) to be sinless...The remember the Sabbath Day was a commandment which when obeyed left one ready to worship on the day God would receive worship from His people...The Jew when he remembered the Sabbath Day...would have kept the other 9 commandments so according to our English Roman Calendar would have been ready to worship on Saturday...instead of offering an animal sacrifice.

Here are the Ten commandments shortened for ease from Exodus chapter 20:

1. You will have no other gods before Me.

2. You will not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth

3. You will not take the name of the LORD your God in vain

4. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

5. Honor your father and your mother

6. You will not kill.

7. You will not commit adultery.

8. You will not steal.

9. You will not bear false witness against your neighbor.

10. You will not covet

As a Jew if you had kept the other 9 commandments then you were in the worship assembly...not the sacrifice an animal line...so remember the Sabbath Day was a requirement so you would not have to offer a sinner's sacrifice...and would have been accepted in worship.

Jesus in talking to the Samaritan woman told her anyone could be accepted on any day If they were worshiping God in Spirit and Truth...As it is written...But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship Him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. (Joh 4:23-24)

After Jesus died and rose from the dead and the Apostles began the church on the Day of Pentecost...found recorded in the book of Acts chapter 2...this word from Jesus became in effect the replacement or the fulling of the remember the Sabbath Day so you could be accepted by God in worship.

Jesus as it is written in Mark 12:29-31 said...And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And you will love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, you will love your neighbor as yourself. There is none other commandment greater than these. (Mar 12:29-31)

As it is written...Jesus Christ said...If any man come to Me and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after Me, cannot be my disciple. (Luk 14:26-27)

So in our terms...when go to the worship assembly we call church...remember enter to worship and leave to serve.

Pray with me...

Father please help us keep ourselves in the truth and walk in the Spirit so we can always call on You and worship You anytime...please meet our soul's deepest needs and heal our sounds caused by accidents and sinful behavior...in Jesus of Nazareth's name amen.

Family roles in Christ…

Wives, be in subjection unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord…

(Wives the decision for a Christian family is left up to the man…pray God will be done through him and if he an unbeliever then set the proper example…and trust God will be done…)

…wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, even if any obey not the word, they may without the word be gained by the behavior of their wives; beholding your chaste (sincere or honest) behavior coupled with fear…to the end that your prayers be not hindered. (1Pe 3:1-7 ASV)

(In case the man is a hypocrite or an unbeliever…never trust him with your salvation…best you can do is pray and set a good example…you cannot keep him from choosing evil or sin…but you can influence him for Jesus by setting a proper example and praying for him and your children…you and I are not qualified to save him only Jesus the Christ is qualified to redeem him and you…so trust in Christ not your husband at all times.)

…For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, being himself the savior of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their husbands in everything…

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church…

…and gave Himself up for it; that He might sanctify it (be willing to protect her from physical death so she can lead your children to heaven even if you die physically), having cleansed it (the people in the church family) by the washing of water with the word (reading the word of God or hearing the Word), that He might present the church to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish (teach your wife the truth in the New Testament and help her be spotless before God through example and teaching God’s word) Even so ought husbands also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He that loves his own wife loves himself (love Jesus more than any but love your wife as the most important on earth and Jesus the most important period): for no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as Christ also the church; because we are members of His body…(the church of Christ Romans 16:16)

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh. This mystery is great: but I speak in regard of Christ and of the church…

…Nevertheless do you also severally love each one his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she fear her husband. (Eph 5:22-33 ASV)… (Husbands love your wives and wives respect your husbands…you are not qualified to pay her sins or to free her from hell only Jesus is…so set the proper example with prayer and deeds obeying Jesus first her will second…as yourself if you were in her shoes)

…Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right…

…Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with promise), that it may be well with thee, and you mayest live long on the earth. And, you fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but nurture them in the chastening (discipline) and admonition (encouragement) of the Lord. (Eph 6:1-4 ASV) (children obey Jesus first…then mom and dad second if there is a conflict…just as mom and dad are supposed to obey Jesus first)

Prayer for families…

Father who is heaven please heal our families and cancel all evil within each family…please meet our souls deepest needs and instruct us with the truth…help us set an good example and have the trust in our prayer to You for salvation and the right ways of Your only Fathered Son Jesus Christ…in Jesus of Nazareth’s name amen (Acts 20:7-8).

Biblical Authority of Direct Command, Approved Example, and Necessary Inference:

Proof Text: Luke 10:25-37

Luke 10 25:37, “And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? 37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.”

Outline of Argument

I. What did Jesus do and teach to inherit eternal life?

A. He gives an answer to a question

1. Jesus knows this is to trip Him up in doctrine but loves the man anyways

a. He knows this guy wants to see Him fail and prove Himself false

b. He knows he is a lawyer and does not want to change but for things to stay the same

c. Jesus realizes there is hope and so loves this lawyer trying to destroy his influence

2. He is asked, not out of sincerity but the man wanted to justify himself

a. The man gives and receives all the right answers but then carries the conversation to a different level by justifying himself with this question who is my neighbor

b. He takes care of those he knows or that take care of him (as all men do)

c. Jesus tells a story to illustrate it is not about teaching the law but doing the law that matters if you seriously want to inherit eternal life you will have to love your neighbor as yourself.

3. Jesus loves the man as himself and teaches him a higher truth

a. He gave an example of loving your neighbor and asks a question to check understanding.

b. Justifying himself, he learned to help the needy,

c. Jesus tells a lawyer to practice the law and not teach the law. His neighbor may be the vilest thing but if he has need then love him.

B. He gives an example to lay alongside the higher truth

1. He tells a story of a man beaten and robbed of every thing except the life he clings to

a. He gave an example of a man (real or unreal), perhaps this had happened earlier that day, but this man had been beaten robbed of everything but his life that he was clinging on to.

b. These thieves don’t check pedigree, or status other than if you have money. They have seriously injured a man and overtook him and his possessions.

c. Illustration.

2. He tells of a priest, Levite, and a Samaritan half breed meet the injured man

a. The Priest, in that day your connection to God, walks by an ignores the robbed man.

b. The Levite, the modern minister deacon, etc. take care of the church duty keeper, walks by and ignores the situation.

c. A half breed less than human, walks by and helps supply everything he needs.

3. The less than human, loves the man and saves him from further destruction

a. Picks him up- he has personal contact with a sinful man God did not protect

b. Pours in Oil – he bandaged this guy up best he could an takes him to a place of comfort.

c. Anything more – he says help to the inn keeper, he may need a few more days, if he stays any longer or needs anything else I will repay. He bore another’s burden.

C. He gives a direct command to obey an approved example

1. He gives a direct command to go and do likewise.

a. He had to love his neighbor as himself to inherit eternal life to the level of the example of helping a half human back to health.

b. He used a “sinner” example of the Samaritan, to teach a lawyer how to love the “undesirables”.

c. This lawyer must help sinners in need if he wants to inherit eternal life, not teach law.

2. The example of Jesus proves the direct command, necessary inference, and approved example doctrine as true here in this parable and example of Jesus.

a. Jesus commanded to obey an approved example (Approved Example)

b. Jesus gave a direct command expecting obedience (Direct Command)

c. Jesus inferred he would have to supply another needs from what he has (Necessary Inference)

3. What did Jesus make binding on this insincere man, in order to answer his original question What must I do to inherit eternal life?

A direct command

An approved example

A Necessary inference
