Do you worship God regularly…yes or no…

When did the first Christians meet and worship God…what was their pattern?

It is written… Now concerning the collection for the saints (they were taking up money for the poor saints in Jerusalem at the time) as I gave order to the churches of Galatia, so also do ye. Upon the first day of the week let each one of you lay by him in store, as he may prosper, that no collections be made when I come...1 Corinthians 16:1-2.

The congregations in the region of Galatia and the church at Corinth were told to meet on the first day of the week…which is Sunday according to the Roman Calendar. There is a first day of the week every week…this is why churches meet on Sunday the first day of the week not Saturday the seventh day of the week. There is one more example or pattern of Christians meeting and having a worship service or what we commonly call church…

It is written… And upon the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul discoursed with them, intending to depart on the morrow; and prolonged his speech until midnight...Acts 20:7.

This time they had gathered together to break bread or remember the Lord’s Supper on the first day of the week…Sunday and Paul was doing the preaching and teaching.

So I go to church or worship on Sunday because the first Christians were in a pattern of meeting on Sunday…the first day of the week and it was an order from an inspired Apostle to meet on the first day of the week. So the next time someone asks you why do you worship on Sunday…say because the first Christians were told to do so in multiple congregations so I do too.

Prayer

Father we know we may worship You anytime we are reconciled and in the right Spirit and practicing the Truth…please bless our worship of You as we follow the pattern you set forth to the first Christians…in Jesus of Nazareth’s name amen.

It is written…

Blessed is the man that endures temptation; for when he hath been approved, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no man: but each man is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. Then the lust, when it hath conceived, bears sin: and the sin, when it is full-grown, bringeth forth death. Be not deceived, my beloved brethren...James 1:12-16.

No. God does not want to lose one of His children. God does no evil and to test someone with evil is a bad thing to do. It is not God tempting you to watch porn…or to lie…or to steal…or whatever…in fact Jesus is interceding that you will not fall away from the faith. We wrestle against our own desires we do not need any help.  Are you one that draws people away from God…or are you like Jesus trying to get people to be like God by behaving properly?

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not also with him freely give us all things? Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifies; who is he that condemns? It is Christ Jesus that died, yea rather, that was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us...Romans 8:31-34.

God is for us not to sin…God is for us to love not hate…to be better not bitter…to do our best not our worse…to forgive and not get even. He is interceding we not sin a sin even though circumstances through life and our flesh may cause us to sin we have a promise Jesus will not allow our circumstances to be greater than our flesh.

There hath no temptation taken you but such as (any) man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it. Wherefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry...1 Corinthians 10:13-14.

When we are tempted by the evil one then Jesus has made us a way out. Do you look for His way out?

Prayer

Father thank you for not tempting us to be drawn away from You and thank you for Jesus’s promise He will make a way out…please meet our soul’s deepest needs and heal us from our own stupid mistakes…and help us find Your way out…in Jesus of Nazareth’s name amen.

So you done someone dirty? Then go and make it clean…

Are you reconciled with fellow man and God…yes or no?

We are told to reconcile with a brother or sister whom we know we have done wrong or they could accuse of wrong…listen to what Jesus said…

If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother hath aught (reason to accuse you of wrong doing) against you, leave there your gift before the altar, and go your way, first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift...Matthew 5:23-24.

So you done someone dirty? Then go and make it clean. You stole then restore or offer a sincere apology perhaps they will forgive. Do not even go to church because your offering will not be received until you do in the eyes of God. Word to the wise…be prayful…prepare for the opportunity even if you have to make one…God will provide a way to reconcile. Remember you are in the wrong and they are the better person for forgiving and reconciling. Perhaps if they are a Christian read them this verse and say what can I do to make it right with you? The explain the circumstance to them how you want to be right with them and God.

Then after you have righted your wrongs go to church and offer your sacrifice of praise or thanksgiving and anything else you desire because you did the will of the Father. Seek forgiveness…seek restoration…be humble and kind while doing this deed of reconciliation.

And one said unto him, Behold, Your mother and Your brethren stand without, seeking to speak to thee. But He (Jesus) answered and said unto him that told Him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand towards His disciples, and said, Behold, my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father who is in heaven, He is my brother, and sister, and mother...Matthew 12:47-50.

Prayer

Father please help us to reconcile our wrong deeds of our past and forgive others trespasses so our worship and sacrifices will be accepted by You and Your Only Son…please meet our deepest needs for reconciliation with You our God and our fellow man…in Jesus of Nazareth’s name amen.
