One deed of repentance and the thief on the cross was saved…

After Jesus baptism but before his death on the cross…

What was Jesus of Nazareth’s message, when he was here on earth before He was delivered unto the death of the cross?

Mat 4:17, “From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

The scene of the cross…

Luke 23:35-43, “And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.  (36)  And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, (37) And saying, if thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.  (38)  And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.  (39)  And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.  (40)  But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?  (41)  And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.  (42)  And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.  (43)  And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.”

The repenting thief actions, he repented, he stopped the madness of people making fun of Jesus. He could not do much dying beside Jesus, but Jesus nailed to the cross, got one more soul saved, Because the one thief repented and obeyed Jesus message that he preached: Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

So, then it is an obedient faith that saves, because even the devils believe and tremble… but a thief was saved by one deed of repentance in obeying Jesus message at life’s last dying breath.

Did you know Jesus began a fast from food unto the cross and resurrection?

And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him. And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer: For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God...Luke 22:14-16.

Jesus when instituting the Lord’s Supper as we call it said He would not eat again until the Passover was fulfilled in the kingdom of God. Jesus was fasting when He was scourged, smitten for our offenses, and died on the cross.

Jesus died and was raised from the dead so you and I could choose right over wrong…could choose God over satan…good over evil. Jesus said He is the truth, the life, and the way no one can come to the Father except through Him…John 14:6. Jesus said you will know the truth and the truth will set you free…John 8:32.

Is this not good news…Jesus became the Passover lamb who gave His own life to take away our sins…He died and was raised from the dead to give us life and truth so we can follow Him in the way of the kingdom of God. All we have to do is practice the truth He reveals to us in doing what is good right and true. Jesus said He that believes and is baptized will be saved but he that chooses to not believe the truth (Jesus died and rose from the dead) will be damned…Mark 16:16.

Will you obey Jesus by being baptized? …yes or no?

Prayer

Father please reveal the truth to us so we can stay faithful by obeying what is good, right, and true and meet all our soul’s deepest needs so we can be glad and serve You through Your Only Son Jesus…in Jesus of Nazareth’s name amen.

God loves a cheerful giver but do you have to tithe or give ten percent…

And he looked up, and saw the rich men that were casting their gifts into the treasury. And he saw a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, This poor widow cast in more than they all: for all these did of their superfluity cast in unto the gifts; but she of her want did cast in all the living that she had...Luke 21:1-4.

But this I say, He that soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he that soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Let each man do according as he hath purposed in his heart: not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver...2 Corinthians 9:6-7.

Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come...1 Corinthians 16:1-2.

God can do anything but fail. You cannot out give God. God does not need your money but wants your heart and mind. In the New Agreement with God and mankind called the New Testament of Christ there is no tithing law or a law requiring to give ten percent. We are to give as we have been prospered and to do so with a cheerful heart. God always gives more than we can imagine or expect. Money is a representative of time and effort. Let us give cheerfully and willingly not because we have to but because we want to donate to the work of the church or good cause feeding the poor and preaching the gospel or the good news of Christ.

Prayer

Father please help us and meet our soul’s deepest needs…we give You our hearts and minds to rule well in Jesus of Nazareth’s name amen.
