Faith Check…

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and His word is not in us...1 John 1:8-10. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord...Romans 6:23. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in His body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences...2 Corinthians 5:10-11.

When is the last time you ran through the Ten Commandments to see if you meet a standard?

Have you received from another table other than God…You shall have no other God. Have you used God’s name in only prayer and teaching…you shall not take God’s name in vain. Have you worshipped the created…you shall not make any graven images. Have you kept yourself Holy so you can approach God without offering a sin sacrifice…you shall keep the Sabbath Day Holy. Have you respected and cared for your dad and mom…honor your dad and mom. Have you murdered…you shall not kill. Have you committed had sex or porn with another’s spouse…you shall not commit adultery. Have you stole…you shall not steal. Have you told a lie or half-truth…you shall not bear false witness. Have you wanted what God has not given you…you shall not covet. How do you measure up? If you have broken even one of these commandments then you deserve death for your behavior or separation from God…He does not tolerate or fellowship sin.

If you do not measure up then I have some good news for you called the Gospel of Jesus Christ…

Jesus never violated the Ten Commandments and met the minimum requirements of not breaking the Ten Commandments. Which for a Jew from the tribe of Judah is all He had to do to remain sinless. Jesus because He never broke one of the Ten Commandments was sinless and righteous before God. He sacrificed His sinless life for an eternal offering of sin so you and I who have broke the Ten Commandments in order for us to be forgiven. Jesus died on a cross and was raise from the dead so you and I could change and follow the truth and be forgiven. Do you believe Jesus died and was raised from the dead…yes or no?

Jesus said He that believes and is baptized will be saved but he that refuses to believe that Jesus is the only way to be forgiven in the eyes of God will be damned. Have you been baptized…yes or no? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection...Romans 6:3-5. Will you be baptized into Christ’s death burial and resurrection…yes or no?

Prayer

Father please remember we are but sinners in need of a repentance and faith in Your Son Jesus and meet our soul’s deepest needs…please forgive us of our sinful pasts and help us start repenting before You…we renounce satan and sin…in Jesus of Nazareth’s name amen.

Everyone says Jesus loves me…but how do you love Jesus…

Listen to what is written Jesus said… If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments...John 14:15.

So if we want to return the love Jesus has for us then what are His commandments…

As it is written… Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law? And He (Jesus) said unto him, You shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second like unto it is this, You shalt love thy neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments the whole law hangs, and the prophets...Matthew 22:36-40.

Jesus taught us many great things but the one thing you want to get right is to love God by obeying His commandments…with all of your heart, mind, and strength. When a Jewish ruler asked Jesus how to inherit eternal life Jesus asked if he kept the ten commandments…As it is written…

And behold, one came to him and said, Teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why asks thou me concerning that which is good? One there is who is good: but if thou would enter into life, keep the commandments...Matthew 19:16-17.

…He saith unto him, Which? And Jesus said, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honor thy father and thy mother; and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. The young man saith unto him, All these things have I observed: what lack I yet...Matthew 19:18-20?

When asked Jesus said we could worship God any day of the week not just on Saturday (Sabbath) by the woman at the well…the commandment to keep the Sabbath day holy was so you would not have to offer a sin sacrifice by breaking one of the other nine commandments. After the cross we now go to church on Sunday the first day of the week by a commandment…and still must keep ourselves Holy by keeping the other nine commandments… But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth: for such doth the Father seek to be his worshippers. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship in spirit and truth...John 4:23-24.

As it is written… Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I gave order to the churches of Galatia, so also do ye. Upon the first day of the week let each one of you lay by him in store, as he may prosper, that no collections be made when I come...1 Corinthians 16:1-2. If you keep the Ten Commandments by loving God with all of heart, mind, and strength then you are walking in Spirit and Truth and able to worship God not only on the Sabbath day every day, if you have sinned then you must repent and seek reconciliation then walk in Spirit and Truth again, but Christian congregations were told to meet on Sunday after the cross.

Prayer

Please help us have the morality of the Ten Commandments and help us walk in Spirit and Truth so we may worship you and be accepted…please meet our soul’s deepest needs and heal our sinful pasts…in Jesus of Nazareth’s name amen.

Do you worship God regularly…yes or no…

When did the first Christians meet and worship God…what was their pattern?

It is written… Now concerning the collection for the saints (they were taking up money for the poor saints in Jerusalem at the time) as I gave order to the churches of Galatia, so also do ye. Upon the first day of the week let each one of you lay by him in store, as he may prosper, that no collections be made when I come...1 Corinthians 16:1-2.

The congregations in the region of Galatia and the church at Corinth were told to meet on the first day of the week…which is Sunday according to the Roman Calendar. There is a first day of the week every week…this is why churches meet on Sunday the first day of the week not Saturday the seventh day of the week. There is one more example or pattern of Christians meeting and having a worship service or what we commonly call church…

It is written… And upon the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul discoursed with them, intending to depart on the morrow; and prolonged his speech until midnight...Acts 20:7.

This time they had gathered together to break bread or remember the Lord’s Supper on the first day of the week…Sunday and Paul was doing the preaching and teaching.

So I go to church or worship on Sunday because the first Christians were in a pattern of meeting on Sunday…the first day of the week and it was an order from an inspired Apostle to meet on the first day of the week. So the next time someone asks you why do you worship on Sunday…say because the first Christians were told to do so in multiple congregations so I do too.

Prayer

Father we know we may worship You anytime we are reconciled and in the right Spirit and practicing the Truth…please bless our worship of You as we follow the pattern you set forth to the first Christians…in Jesus of Nazareth’s name amen.
