Make your promises few but keep them faithfully…

Again, ye have heard that it was said to them of old time, You shalt not forswear yourself, but shalt perform unto the Lord your oaths: but I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by the heaven, for it is the throne of God; nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. Neither shalt you swear by your head, for you canst not make one hair white or black. But let your speech be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: and whatsoever is more than these is of the evil one...Matthew 5:33-37.

Ever made a promise you could not keep? I have. I try to keep all my promises without fail…but sometimes circumstances out do you and you become a liar. May God forgive me and you for any promises we have made that we cannot keep or which cannot be kept. Jesus said do not swear at all…that is a promise he is talking about or if God is involved then it is a vow. If You swear by God then you just have made a vow. Vows must be kept. Promises are between man and man. Vows are between God and man. For in many things we all stumble. If any stumbles not in word, the same is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body also...James 3:2.

Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for edifying as the need may be, that it may give grace to them that hear...Ephesians 4:29. in all things showing yourself an ensample of good works; in your doctrine showing uncorruptness, gravity, sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of us...Titus 2:7-8. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer each one...Colossians 4:6.

Prayer

Father forgive us for our broken promises to You and to others and meet our soul’s deepest needs…in Jesus of Nazareth’s name amen.

Do you have a closet full of clothes and no deeds in heaven…yes or no?

But when the king came in to behold the guests, he saw there a man who had not on a wedding-garment: and he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding-garment? And he was speechless. Then the king said to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and cast him out into the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth...Matthew 22:11-13. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ did put on Christ...Galatians 3:27. For we must all be made manifest before the judgment-seat of Christ; that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he hath done, whether it be good or bad...2 Corinthians 5:10. For many are called, but few chosen...Matthew 22:14.

Jesus Christ of Nazareth died and was raised from the dead…do you believe this fact…yes or no? Jesus died so you could morally never choose a wrong thing and always be supplied to do the right deed. You first must believe and be baptized in order to have you entrance or name written in heaven…it is how we get on the role and given the Holy Spirit to comfort us in our lives. (Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38-39) Then we must love God first and our neighbors second.

What is a good deed in heaven which we do down here?

Feeding a beggar…caring for or praying for a sick guy to be healed…supplying the needs of a widow or an orphan…helping the helpless? Do you have faith…then where is your deeds… To the pure all things are pure: but to them that are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. They profess that they know God; but by their works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate...Titus 1:15-16.

Prayer

Father please meet our souls deepest needs to be clean and pure from evil influences in our lives…in Jesus of Nazareth’s name amen.

Money should be your servant not your God…

And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of them that sold the doves; and He saith unto them, It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer: but ye make it a den of robbers. And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them...Matthew 21:12-14.

Why did Jesus overthrow the money changers and those that bought and sold in the temple?

They were running a business on forgiveness…some people did not have access to the animals needed for the required sacrifices. These men would sell the needed provisions…the animals needed for forgiveness. The people were being extorted (squeezed) for money and forgiveness.

Jesus said…No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money...Matthew 6:24. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs...1 Timothy 6:9-10.
