You know the best way to have the last word…offer an apology.
…Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do you. And above all these things put on (love) charity, which is the bond of perfectness (completeness)… Col 3:12-14 KJV
Jesus taught… …And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses… Mat 6:12-15 KJV
…Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy… Mat 5:7 KJV
…But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposed in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work… 2Co 9:6-8 KJV
…O you that art named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the LORD straitened? are these His doings? do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly…? Mic 2:7 KJV
It never hurts you to forgive…however the sacrifice is worth the reward of reconciliation with a brother or sister…forgiveness heals you and them…and gives opportunity to God to glorify His name…He can create you whatever you need...He died to reconcile you to Himself…
Mat 18:15-20…explained…
…Moreover if your brother shall trespass against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone: if he shall hear you, you hast gained your brother…
1. First step to reconciliation is to let the brother know he has offended you…how many people are walking around offended by an offender and the offender does not even know they have sinned or offended a Christian?
…But if he will not hear you, then take with you one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established…
2. The second step is carry two or three of his closest friends or family and try to get him to reconcile and repent…if his mom there then it be like…johnny stole five dollar…momma going to say Johnny give him his five dollars back…or his best friend be like it just five bucks…reconcile.
…And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto you as an heathen (godless) man and a publican (Roman government official in Jesus day…a Jew who worked for the oppressive government)…
3. The third step is to carry it front of the church or congregation…we are trying to get Johnny to stop stealing…we have went to him one on one…we have went to him as family and friends…johnny will not follow Jesus…any ideas?
…Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything (for forgiveness and reconcillation) that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them...
4. When an agreement for reconciliation has been made in this process either between two individuals…or the sinner and family and friends…or if reconciliation has been made in front of the congregation…then those terms are binding in heaven and earth because forgiveness and reconciliation are achieved by these terms to the individuals involved. (Mat 18:14-20)
So can you look everybody in the eye and shake their hand…yes or no? You made everything right with your fellow man and God…yes or no?
Jesus said… Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother hath ought against (has been offended or done wrong by you) you; Leave there your gift before the altar, and go your way; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles you art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison. Verily I say unto you, You shalt by no means come out thence, till you hast paid the uttermost farthing (penny). Mat 5:23-26 KJV
Jesus said God will not even accept an offering from you unless you made your actions or deeds right with fellow man…God says He will not accept you unless you have made things right with those you done wrong…however in cases like murder…where it would take a miracle to undo the evil and make it right…one must pray for mercy because reparations are not possible (if it is impossible to repair the damage then pray for mercy).
Prayer
Father please show us mercy and we forgive all others so forgiveness and reconciliation can be achieved for eternal life in Your Name…please grant us repentance and the proper approach to reconcile with others and especially You…in Jesus of Nazareth’s name amen.
